History of the Library at College of Nursing and Midwifery, Nalerigu
The Library of Nalerigu College of Nursing and Midwifery, located in the Northeast Region of Ghana, serves as an integral resource for academic excellence and professional development in the fields of nursing, midwifery, and allied health sciences. Established alongside the college in 2008, the library was created to address the information and research needs of students and faculty, supporting the institution’s mission of producing competent and compassionate healthcare professionals.

Initially modest in size, the library has grown significantly over the years, expanding its collection and infrastructure to meet the demands of a growing academic community. Its resources include textbooks, journals, and reference materials across multiple disciplines, supporting current programs such as nursing, midwifery, nutrition, physiotherapy, health information, health promotion, epidemiology and disease control, dietetics, and medical laboratory technician training. These resources provide the foundation for academic inquiry, research, and continuous learning.

Affiliation and Development
With the college’s affiliation to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the library has elevated its standards to align with the requirements of a leading academic institution. This partnership has allowed the library to adopt advanced systems for cataloging, managing, and accessing materials, ensuring students and faculty have access to world-class resources.

To further enhance its offerings, the library incorporates digital resources, enabling users to explore e-books, online journals, and databases. This modern approach to resource delivery ensures the library remains relevant in an increasingly digital academic environment.
